Understanding Your Kalshi Trading History

Every Bit Works · Sources checked October 5, 2026

Your Kalshi history is made of different records. Orders are what you asked to trade; fills are what actually traded, with price and fees; positions are what you still hold; settlements are payouts when markets resolve; and deposits, withdrawals, and credits are account activity. Fills, positions, and settlements determine your profit and loss. Funding activity changes your balance but not your trading result.

Orders: what you asked for.

An order is an instruction to buy or sell at a price. Kalshi’s API reports an order’s status as resting, canceled, or executed. An order on its own doesn’t change your P&L; only the parts that fill do. A resting order that is later canceled may never trade at all.

Fills: what actually traded.

Kalshi’s API documentation says “a fill is when a trade you have is matched.” One order can fill in several pieces at different times. Each fill records the contracts, price, and whether you were the taker, meaning your order removed liquidity from the order book. Fills are the main source for what you paid, what you received when selling, and the fees on each trade.

Positions: what you hold.

A position is the net number of contracts you hold in a market. Kalshi’s API returns unsettled positions by default, representing Yes contracts as positive and No contracts as negative. Open positions are where unrealized P&L comes from.

Settlements: how markets paid out.

When a market’s outcome is confirmed, Kalshi settles it and pays winning contracts to your cash balance; Kalshi’s API documentation says winning contracts pay out 100 cents each. Settlements close positions and turn their results into realized P&L.

Account activity: money in and out.

Deposits, withdrawals, credits, rewards, and interest are account activity rather than trades. Kalshi lists credits under Account → Activity → Credits, and its API provides deposit history. These change your balance but are funding, not trading profit.

Which records matter for P&L.

RecordUsed forAffects trading P&L?
OrdersIntent and statusNot directly; only the parts that fill
FillsCost, sale proceeds, fees, maker or takerYes
PositionsWhat is still open and its current valueYes, as unrealized
SettlementsPayouts when markets resolveYes, as realized
Deposits and withdrawalsFundingNo
Credits, rewards, interestOther account activityNo, but they change your cash

Kalshi’s API documentation notes that older fills, orders, and positions move to separate historical endpoints after a cutoff date, so a complete history may need both. Kalshi’s P&L statement summarizes these records by year; API access lets an app read them directly.

Your history in Damage Report.

Damage Report reads your fills, settlements, positions, balances, deposits, withdrawals, and transfers with a read-only key and organizes them on your device. Expand a position to see its fills and settlements, open a record for details, and export fills or settlements as CSV. Resync History re-reads your entire available history.
