Getting started

Connect your Kalshi account.

Damage Report requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. You need an internet connection, a Kalshi account, and a read-only API key to sync your own history. There is no separate Damage Report account.

  1. In onboarding, choose Open Kalshi Site. In Safari, sign in at kalshi.com/account/profile, find API Keys, select Create key, choose Read only, and download the private-key file.
  2. Return to Damage Report, select the downloaded PEM key file, and paste its matching API key ID. Tap Connect to verify it.
  3. Let the initial sync finish. The overview fills in as records arrive; keep the app open for a large history. Open the Settings gear for connection status and sync controls.

If the Kalshi link opens its app instead of the website, copy https://kalshi.com/account/profile into Safari. API-key setup takes place on Kalshi’s website.

To explore first, choose Skip for now, then Settings → Enter Demo Mode. Learn about demo mode.

Common questions

What does Damage Report need to connect?

A Kalshi API key created with read-only access, plus the key ID. Damage Report imports the key file you select and stores the credentials in the iOS Keychain on your device.

Why won’t my key connect?

Confirm that you selected the downloaded PEM key file, entered the matching key ID, and created the key with read-only access. Check your internet connection. In Settings, use Test Connection to check an existing connection, or Replace API Key if you replaced or revoked it on Kalshi. If you skipped setup, use Connect Kalshi.

How do I refresh my data?

In Settings, Sync Now fetches the latest records. Resync History re-reads the entire available history without deleting your stored data and can take longer. If a sync fails, check your internet connection and that your Kalshi key is active. In demo mode, both actions simulate a sync and leave example trades unchanged.

Can I try the app without a Kalshi account?

Yes. Choose Skip for now on the connection screen, open the Settings gear, choose Enter Demo Mode, and confirm. Demo mode uses separate, curated example data, keeps your own records intact, and supports charts, fees, CSV exports, and labeled demo diagnostics. Account and statement actions show previews; syncs are simulated. A public Kalshi status check may use the internet without account credentials, but the example history can be explored offline. Select Leave Demo Mode and confirm to return to your own data.

How do I import an account statement?

Connect your own account, then open Settings → Account Statements. Download an activity CSV in the in-app Kalshi browser (All → download icon → All time), or select a CSV you previously downloaded using Files. If embedded sign-in fails, use Safari to download the CSV and choose Files instead.

Review the preview and use the top-right checkmark to confirm, or the top-left X to cancel. Import a statement from the same Kalshi account you connected; the CSV cannot automatically verify the account. The app saves supported applied promotional credits, interest, and fee refunds as funding. It does not import trades, deposits, or withdrawals from the CSV. Repeated credits are not added twice. A statement check may add no new credits and does not guarantee that every discrepancy is resolved.

Why do my totals differ from Kalshi?

Check the selected date range, last sync, and any data-quality warnings. Realized results, open-position values, fees, and funding describe different parts of your account. A missing quote can leave an open position’s value unknown. Statement credits can help explain funding differences without changing trading P&L. Use Resync History and Settings → P&L Diagnostic to investigate, and compare with official Kalshi records. Damage Report is not a tax statement or a guarantee of complete history. Read the P&L explanation and worked example, or the guide to why Kalshi P&L and balances differ.

How do I export my records?

In Settings, select Export Fills CSV or Export Settlements CSV, then choose a destination in the system share sheet. Each export includes the locally stored records of that type, not just the selected chart range. The button is disabled when there are no records to export. In demo mode, exports contain only example records.

How do I disconnect and remove my data?

If demo mode is active, choose Leave Demo Mode first. In Settings, choose Disconnect and Wipe Data and confirm Disconnect. This removes stored API credentials, local account records, imported statement evidence, and app-owned saved diagnostics. If you see Wipe Incomplete, retry before treating the wipe as complete.

To revoke API access, also revoke the key on the Kalshi account page. This does not close your Kalshi account. Deleting the app removes its local app data, but Keychain items can persist after uninstall; use the in-app wipe first. Source files in Files, device backups, Apple’s system logs, and copies you already shared are outside the app’s wipe. Remove or manage those separately. To request deletion of information sent to support, email a privacy request.

Can Damage Report place trades?

No. Damage Report uses read-only access to display and analyze account history. It does not place trades, withdraw funds, or otherwise transact on your Kalshi account.

How do I share diagnostics?

In Settings, tap Share Diagnostics. The app creates a ZIP file locally and opens the system share sheet; nothing is automatically sent to support. You can save it to Files and inspect it before deciding whether to send it. It may contain financial records, raw account API records, statement-credit evidence, sync history, recent app logs, and available system crash or performance reports. Treat it as sensitive account information. Demo diagnostics are labeled as demo data and exclude personal logs and system reports.
